Sludge grinder helps centrifugal dewatering system operate stably
In modern sludge dewatering processes, sludge composition is becoming increasingly complex. It often contains large solid particles, tough fibrous materials, plastics, wood fragments, and other debris, posing a severe risk of clogging and resistance within pipelines and dewatering equipment. To address these challenges, the sludge grinder, designed as a key auxiliary unit for horizontal centrifugal sludge dewatering machines, has become indispensable in pretreatment.
The sludge grinder features a fully sealed construction composed of a housing, motor support frame, spindle, cutting blades, and a gear reduction transmission system. Adjustable valves installed at the inlet, outlet, and clean-water port enable precise control of sludge concentration. Operators can observe the sludge condition through a viewing window and add water as needed to ensure proper cutting, flushing, and particle-size conditioning.
In a typical workflow, sludge from the thickening tank contains large solids and fibrous entanglements. After entering the cutter, these materials are shredded by the shearing force generated between the high-speed rotating blades and the fixed cutting ring. The processed sludge is then pumped to the electromagnetic flow meter for measurement before mixing with flocculant solution and entering the centrifuge for final dewatering. This demonstrates that the sludge grinder works closely alongside the sludge dewatering centrifuge.
Driven by a geared motor, the cutter’s spindle rotates at high speed, generating strong shearing force between the cutting blades and the blade disc. The machine can grind wood, textiles, plastics, paper, rubber, and even glass debris, ensuring stable centrifuge operation without interruption.
Key structural and performance advantages include:
1.Low energy consumption: Models below 55 m³/h require only a 1.5 kW motor, outperforming similar equipment.
2.Advanced blade design: Both shafts use a series-type modular blade set. Each blade and spacer is removable, minimizing spare-part and maintenance costs.
3.Optimized pump body: Integrated flange design simplifies maintenance. An internal debris chamber collects uncut materials, while an external inspection cover enables easy cleaning.
4.Compact structure and small footprint.
5.Simple operation and easy maintenance.
6.Dual-shaft differential cutting: Different rotational speeds create tearing, pulling, and shearing effects, ensuring complete shredding.
7.Low speed, high torque for high-quality cutting performance.
Owing to its strong adaptability and protective function, the sludge grinder is widely used in municipal wastewater plants, chemical factories, paper mills, and food-production industries, providing critical support for sludge reduction and stable centrifuge operation.
